How to Get an Orange Dragon in Dragonkind

Last updated: October 13, 2026

Orange is the most unpredictable dragon in the game — but the chain below is the one that worked for us: we bonded Raeboch, a female orange scorpiontail, 64, of the Fhaicorain lineage. Follow it, and accept that orange still rolls dice.

Getting to the meadow

1. Enter the valley and survive the first encounter

Heading east toward the roar can draw an orange first encounter (we verified it) — lower your eyes and retreat to survive it. But the bond happens later, in the meadow.

2. At the screams, the ruthless path fits the pattern

Community route maps link ruthlessness here to orange/red bonds. Our orange bond left the wounded cadet and kept walking.

3. Reach the valley heart and decline the red

The red at the center will offer itself. Decline, climb over the fallen tree-limb, and the meadow opens up.

The bond chain, step by step

1. Be absolutely certain

The orange sizes you up. When the game asks if you are sure, there is only one answer — absolute certainty. Any hesitation-worded option with any dragon is death.

2. Roar back at it

It roars. You roar back. (Fair warning: identical "roar back" runs have both bonded and burned — orange keeps a random element no matter what you do.)

3. Run at the swinging claw and climb its leg

Charge straight at the claw it swings at you, then climb with brute strength. Commit fully — and the bond seals.

Manage your expectations

  • Orange burns more players at random than any other color — one player bonded on the first try, others burned on identical choices.
  • Fleeing or hesitating is always fatal. Certainty is necessary — just not sufficient.
  • If it burns you, the wait is exactly 4 hours. Orange is worth a few attempts, not a whole day.
