How to Get a Blue Dragon in Dragonkind

Last updated: October 9, 2026

Blues are cold, powerful, and rare — the second-hardest bond after black. Two routes have player evidence behind them. Neither is guaranteed, and the newest one is still disputed between trackers.

Route 1: The shadow event

Climb the tallest tree at the forest fork and roll the random third option, "follow the shadow". The blue dragon appears first on this chain.

Hold still and accept her

When the blue tests you, stay motionless — lower your eyes or bow — and accept her when she offers. r/fourthwing moderators have confirmed this as a real blue bond path.

Or let her leave, and continue toward black

If you refuse the blue and continue the chain (bandage the cadet, head south, look back), you are on the reported black dragon route instead. Some players who hesitated between the two lost both.

Route 2: The meadow spawn

First reported October 6-7, now backed by multiple completed bonds: a blue dragon sometimes spawns beside the orange and brown in the meadow — the field you reach by declining the valley-heart red. r/fourthwing moderators have confirmed meadow blue bonds ("we have confirmed a Blue Dragon bond!!").

The reported successful sequence

  1. Meet her gaze — do not look away.
  2. Hold completely still while she tests the cadets.
  3. Dodge right, behind the boulder.
  4. Answer "overthrow an empire".
  5. Approach slowly when invited → bond.

Player reports · Oct 6-7 megathreads. No rescue of the wounded cadet is required beforehand — and identical choices have still been burned.

  • Identical choices have also been burned. Treat every step as a dice roll.
  • The older claim that killing the bully makes blue spawn more often is a single-source correlation — unverified.
  • Some trackers still list meadow blue as unconfirmed while others have logged completed bonds — the evidence moved fast in the first week of October. We present the sequence and label the uncertainty.

Set expectations

One player reported seeing a blue twice in 14 attempts — and dying both times. Every death costs about 4 hours. Pace yourself, and track the wait.
