Dragonkind Answers: Every Threshing Choice & Outcome

Last updated: October 9, 2026

The route map for the official Threshing game at dragonkind.com — what every choice leads to, which answers keep you alive, and how players reach each dragon. Compiled from community route maps and player reports, updated as new evidence lands. Nothing here is a guarantee: randomness is part of the game.

Stage 2 · Right after entering the valley

First Dragon Encounter

Your first dragon is drawn from a pool set by how you entered (alone or with squadmates) and which direction you walked. It is almost never your dragon — the only goal here is to stay alive.

ChoiceOutcomeResultEvidence
Lower your eyes and stay stillThe universal survival move. Works against every first-encounter color variant reported so far.SurviveConfirmed
Meet its gaze / approach confidentlyThe single most common way players die. Confidence reads as a challenge.BurnedConfirmed
Draw a weaponBurned. Dragons treat drawn steel as a declaration of war.BurnedConfirmed
Solo + head west: green dragon behind the thorns — lower your eyes and stand firmTested variant (Oct 6): entering alone and walking west draws a green behind the thorn bushes. The same lower-eyes rule passes it.SurvivePlayer reports
Hide behind a treeDepends on the variant: safe against red variant A, fatal against red variant B. When in doubt, lower your eyes instead.Leads onPlayer reports
  • Entering alone vs. with one or two squadmates, plus your direction (east toward roaring, west toward a smell, or the forest center), only decides which pool your first dragon is drawn from.
  • Do not try to bond here. Survive, and the dragon lets you pass.

Stage 3 · After the first encounter

The Screams in the Forest

You pass the ashes of other candidates and hear fighting — a squadmate being bullied. How you handle this may echo later: community route maps link mercy here to green/brown bonds, and ruthlessness to red/orange bonds.

ChoiceOutcomeResultEvidence
Step between the bully and your squadmateYou die in the fight. Heroics without a plan get you killed.BurnedConfirmed
Charge straight inUsually fatal. The bully is ready for a frontal attack.BurnedPlayer reports
Assess the situation, then attack the smaller oneTested win. Afterwards you choose: let your squadmate take revenge, kill the bully yourself, or leave him to the dragons.SurviveConfirmed
Keep walkingYou instead meet a wounded cadet with a broken leg: make a tourniquet from your belt, walk away, or take their weapon. All three let you continue.Leads onConfirmed
  • Community-mapped pattern (30+ accounts): every successful green/brown bond had earlier left the bully to the dragons or made the tourniquet. Every successful red/orange bond had killed the bully, let the squadmate take revenge, or walked away.
  • Players who saved the wounded cadet and later roared at an orange dragon were burned.

Stage 4-5 · Climb the tallest tree, descend slowly

The Two Greens Clearing

The deadliest scene in the game. Two green dragons watch you. Hesitation and split attention are punished harder here than anywhere else.

ChoiceOutcomeResultEvidence
Stay neutral and let the dragons decideBurned. Neutrality reads as weakness.BurnedConfirmed
Pick one, then glance at the otherBurned. Commit fully to a single dragon.BurnedConfirmed
Turn to one dragon, hold still, stand your ground, answer honestlyThe surviving pattern. Right dragon asks why you chose it; left dragon asks your greatest weakness.BondConfirmed
Right dragon: "Green magic is the strongest" / "You respect their nature"Reported green bonds.BondPlayer reports
Right dragon: "You're equally smart" / "You don't know"Burned.BurnedPlayer reports
Left dragon: "My temper" / "I push too hard"Reported green bonds.BondPlayer reports
Left dragon: "I'm always right"An orange dragon dives in and claims you instead — reported orange bond.BondPlayer reports
Left dragon: "I have no weaknesses"Usually burned. A few players report being rescued and bonded by a brown dragon who called them an idiot.BurnedPlayer reports
  • Randomness is real: one tester ran the same "turn to the right dragon" route twice on October 6 — one run advanced, the other burned ("OH DEAR. You chose poorly, offending the dragon you turned away from."). Neither green is a safe side.
  • Some players who answered "wrong" report being saved by a brown dragon bond.

Stage 4-5 · Climb the tallest tree, descend fast

Red Dragon at Your Feet

You come down the tree fast and land at a red dragon's feet. It is not in a patient mood.

ChoiceOutcomeResultEvidence
Jump on its backBurned. Tested.BurnedConfirmed
Wait a few seconds, then jump toward the tail and lower your eyesAlso burned. Tested.BurnedConfirmed
Decide this red is too hot-tempered and go find the greensWalk away safely back toward the two-greens clearing.SurvivePlayer reports
  • This red is a trap for the impatient. The exit option is the survival option.

Stage 5-6 · Keep walking to the center of the valley

Red Dragon at the Valley Heart

The most reliable bond in the game. A red dragon waits at the valley's center, and it is genuinely considering you.

ChoiceOutcomeResultEvidence
"This is your dragon" → confirm → keep approaching → touch its claw / run up its leg and mountThe most consistently reported successful bond route across all sources.BondConfirmed
Decline the red dragonYou move on to the meadow, where orange and brown dragons wait — and a blue has occasionally appeared.Leads onConfirmed
  • If you just want your first bond, this is the route: head for the valley center instead of climbing the tree.
  • "Think it over" and "bow out gracefully" are untested — declining is the documented exit.

Stage 6-7 · After declining the valley-heart red

The Meadow (Orange & Brown)

Orange and brown dragons graze here. Both can be bonded, but orange is the least predictable dragon in the game — and a blue dragon sometimes spawns alongside them.

ChoiceOutcomeResultEvidence
Brown: follow it → inner certainty → climb its tail → press your whole body onBest-tested brown route from community route maps.BondPlayer reports
Brown: hesitate or follow half-heartedlyBurned.BurnedPlayer reports
Yell at the brown dragon to stopTriggers a mud fight. Throwing mud back gets you burned; players who wiped it off report being bonded (single source).Leads onUnverified
Orange: be absolutely certain → roar back → run up its claw and mountReported orange bond — but community maps link success to having killed the bully or left the wounded cadet earlier.BondPlayer reports
Orange: flee or hesitateBurned. Orange burns more players at random than any other color.BurnedPlayer reports
  • Conflicting reports exist for identical "roar back" runs — one player bonded first try, others burned. Treat orange as a dice roll.
  • Blue dragon appearances in the meadow were first reported October 6-7. Same choices have produced both bonds and burns.

Stage 4-5 · Third option at the treetop (random)

Follow the Shadow

The only known door to black and blue dragons. After climbing the tallest tree, a third option — follow the shadow — appears at random. Players report first seeing it anywhere from attempt 16 to never.

ChoiceOutcomeResultEvidence
Follow the shadow → meet the blue dragon: hold still, lower your eyes or bow, let her leaveLetting the blue go is the documented path onward. You then bandage a wounded cadet and head south.Leads onPlayer reports
Accept the blue dragon when she offersA reported blue bond route — confirmed by r/fourthwing moderators as a real blue path.BondPlayer reports
Continue south → look back toward the sound → the black dragon appears → meet its eyes, do NOT bowFour player reports of this chain, three independently confirming the final step is direct eye contact.BondPlayer reports
  • Even seeing the black dragon does not protect you — players have been burned at the final step, or lost both by hesitating between blue and black.
  • You do NOT need to enter the valley alone: players with squadmates have bonded black.
  • Expect this to take days of attempts, not hours. Reported black bonds include attempt 26; some players have 31+ attempts without seeing the shadow.

Hunting something rarer?

Black and blue dragons do not appear on the standard routes — they need the random shadow event or the meadow spawn.
